The Oyo state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has assured that his administration’s area of concentration in the next dispensation would be to focus more on the people’s welfare.
He gave the assurance on Monday in Lagos after he was screened and cleared by the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening committee headed by Senator Danjuma Goje to enable him contest for the
governorship election in the 2015.
“We will focus more on the welfare of the people of Oyo State, in order to better their lots. We will not relent in ensuring that our people feel the impact of our administration positively in order to ensure
that they have opportunity to be the best they can be”, he said.
Governor Ajimobi also reiterated the commitment of his administration to accord priority to programmes that would enhance the socio-economic development of the state as well as the maintenance of peace and security.
“Peace, security and development will be accorded wholistic approach. We will also provide an enabling environment for democracy and social welfare to thrive,” he noted.
Governor Ajimobi, who described the screening exercise as very successful, commended the APC for being a well-structured and democratic party.
He also lauded the effort of the Chairman and the screening committee members for the successful screening exercise, adding, “it gives me joy that we have a party that does things democratically. Though, I have other aspirants contesting with me, I am very optimistic that I will eventually become the APC candidate and will win the election next year,” he said.
While speaking, Chairman of the party’s screening committee and former governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje thanked all the aspirants for their attendance at the screening, urging them to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship in the contest.
According to him, only a single candidate would emerge from the list of contestants for the governorship seat and urged them to take whatever is the outcome of the screening in good faith.
He particularly appreciated the governor of Oyo State, Senator Ajimobi for what he called his promptness to the venue of the screening, stating that this was the quality of a good leader.
