The Nigerian Army has reacted to a video which shows a group of soldiers complaining of hunger and thirst. The soldiers, who are among those fighting Boko Haram in the North-East, also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to come to their aid. Former Delta State governor, James Ibori has been released from prison. Ibori was released today, December 21, 2016, following a court order to that effect, Vanguard reports. The former governor’s release has been confirmed by his media aide, Tony Elumenor. Ibori was, on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, sentenced to 13 years in prison by the Southwark Crown Court of the United Kingdom after pleading guilty to ten counts of money laundering and conspiracy to defraud. The Federal Government has declared Monday, December 26 and Tuesday, December 27, 2016 as public holidays. The declaration was made in commemoration of the Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations. The government has also declared Monday, January 2, 2017 as a public holiday to mark the New Year. The announcement was made by Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau via a statement released by ministry spokesman, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido on Wednesday, December 21. The Police in Adamawa Police has renewed the ban on fireworks during the yuletide period across the state. The police issued the warning in a statement issued by the spokesman of the command, SP Othman Abubakar on Wednesday in Yola.
