The lawsuit that Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu of Edo State had brought against Governor Godwin Obaseki has been dropped.
The anti-impeachment suit against Obaseki was brought by the Deputy Governor at a High Court in Abuja.
The governor’s efforts to have him impeached were the subject of a lawsuit with case number FHC/ABJ/CS/1027/2023.
Shaibu, who has been at odds with the Edo governor, characterized him as his “boss” and “senior brother” in a statement he personally signed.
The Edo State government, the DSS, the Inspector General of Police, and the Chief Judge of Edo State were all named as defendants in the lawsuit.
The deputy governor explained his decision to drop the issue by saying he and the governor had talks with certain well-intentioned Edolites and Nigerians.
His Grace Most Reverend Dr. Augustine Akubeze, his spiritual leader, traditional rulers, and other members of the Peoples Democratic Party are all on his list of indispensible people, he stated.
With that in mind, “I, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Philip Shaibu, have authorized and instructed my solicitors to withdraw the suit forthwith,” he said.
For this peaceful way forward, I’d also like to publicly thank my boss and elder brother, Mr. Governor.
