The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has restated the FCT Administration’s stance against any form of variation of contracts awarded by the FCTA.
During an inspection of projects in Abuja, Minister Wike even went as far as blacklisting some contractors for requesting such variations.
The minister’s comments were prompted by a request from Setraco Construction Company to vary the contract for the construction of the Southern Parkway from Christian Centre to Ring Road 1 to include provision for streetlights.

Minister Wike emphasized that the FCTA would not entertain such requests.
He highlighted that the FCT administration had previously agreed with contractors on a funding pattern to enable the completion of ongoing projects in the FCT by May this year.
According to Wike, payments have been made as agreed, making the request for variation untenable. He warned that the FCTA may blacklist contractors if they fail to complete the project within schedule.
Minister Wike stated, “There cannot be any variation on that project, and if they don’t complete it on time, I’m going to blacklist the company.
That is the truth of the matter. Nobody will toy with us; nobody will try to outsmart us. We are not going to accept it.”
He also emphasized that the FCTA has funded the projects adequately without any failure on its part, citing the payment of not less than 97 percent for the construction of the Southern Parkway.
Minister Wike’s firm stance indicates the administration’s commitment to ensuring the timely completion of projects in the FCT without compromising on contractual agreements.
