The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has announced its readiness to receive defectors from other political parties but warned that its leadership structure will not be compromised in the process.
Chairman of the party in the state, Engr. Bala Sufiyanu, made the declaration during a press briefing on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi, as the party prepares for what he described as “a wave of defections” from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“We are glad to welcome new members who believe in the ADC’s vision and are ready to work for a better Kebbi State,” Sufiyanu said.

“However, it must be clearly understood that our leadership positions are not up for grabs. The party’s structure remains intact, and no defector, no matter how influential, will be allowed to displace those duly elected to lead.”
He stated unequivocally that there is no formal or informal agreement requiring existing ADC officials to step down in favour of newcomers.
“I remain the legally recognized and constitutionally elected State Chairman of the ADC in Kebbi. There is no dispute about that, and we are not entertaining any form of leadership reshuffling to satisfy external interests,” Sufiyanu emphasized.
He noted that the party is steadily gaining traction ahead of the 2027 General Elections, with increased interest from individuals and groups across various sectors.
“Our doors remain open to all well-meaning citizens who wish to join us in building a new political direction for Kebbi State,” he said. “But unity and discipline within our ranks are non-negotiable. Leadership positions must be earned through the party’s democratic processes, not by political shortcuts.”
Sufiyanu reaffirmed the ADC’s ambition to contest and win key elective positions in the 2027 elections, adding that strategic planning and grassroots mobilization are already in full swing.
