The Lagos State chapter of the People Democratic Party (PDP) has raised an alarm over the abduction of its chairman, Philip Aivoji, calling for immediate government and security intervention to secure his release.
In a statement released by Alhaji Hakeem Amode, the Publicity Secretary of the Lagos State PDP, the party expressed deep concern over the rising incidence of kidnapping in the country and the apparent inability of the government to address the issue effectively.
According to the statement, Aivoji was abducted on Thursday, January 25, at approximately 6:00 pm on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while returning from a stakeholders meeting in Oyo State, which was convened by Governor Seyi Makinde and Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.
The PDP emphasized the urgency of the situation, highlighting the violent nature of the abduction and the lack of communication from the abductors regarding Aivoji’s whereabouts.
The party called upon the governments of Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos states, as well as security agencies, to expedite efforts to ensure Aivoji’s safe return to his family and well-wishers.
Alhaji Hakeem Amode reiterated the party’s confidence in the security agencies and their ability to rescue Aivoji from his captors.
He also urged the public to support initiatives aimed at ending the menace of kidnapping in the country.
The PDP’s appeal comes amidst growing concerns over the security situation in Nigeria, with kidnapping incidents on the rise across various regions.
The party’s statement serves as a reminder of the urgent need for concerted efforts to combat this threat and ensure the safety of all citizens.
