The Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko has vowed that anybody found to be criminally liable in the on-going staff verification exercise across the state would face the wrath of the law.
The governor said this following impersonation and many other frauds discovered during the exercise which started last week. Dr Mimiko was at an unscheduled inspection visit to Oyemekun and C.A.C Grammar Schools both in Akure the State capital, where the exercise was being conducted.
He explained that there are shortcomings in the electronic data capturing system in the state.
According to him the on-going exercise would clean up the payroll system and make some savings for government.
The governor said that over 80 percent of tax payers in the State are public servants and appealed to all eligible tax payers in the state to exercise their civic responsibilities by paying their taxes and other levies so that his administration could continue to provide social services to the people.
“This exercise will afford us the opportunity to clean up the data at the end of this exercise. Some who had retired in 2013/2014 still have their names on the payroll,” Mimiko said.
