The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has accused Governor Seyi Makinde of abandoning governance to focus on political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
The allegation was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Olawale Sadare.

According to the APC, the governor has relegated his official responsibilities, leaving critical issues requiring urgent attention unattended while pursuing political ambitions.
The party claimed that several challenges, including recent security breaches, waste management concerns, and road accidents in the state, have not received adequate government response due to the governor’s alleged absence.
Sadare, in the statement, cited a recent road accident in Ibadan, which reportedly claimed lives at Oje market, as one of the incidents that demanded the governor’s attention.
He alleged that while residents were mourning the victims, the governor was engaged in political meetings with supporters.
The APC further criticised what it described as misplaced priorities, alleging that the governor focused on political discussions and other activities instead of addressing pressing governance issues.
The party called on Makinde to prioritise governance and respond effectively to the needs of residents, rather than concentrating on political pursuits.
