The recent bailout of states in the country by the federal government to enable them pay workers’ salaries does not go down well with Senator Ben Murray-Bruce. The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has dissolved the 31 local government councils in the state. The Speaker of the House, Aniekan Uko, who made the pronouncement in Uyo, the state capital on Thursday, directed the Chairmen to handover all government property to the councils’ Head of Service by July 10. He said this was in line with the 1999 Constitution as amended, as the tenure of the present local government chairmen would expire by 12 midnight on July 10.
