The re-constituted Delta State Environmental Sanitation Task Force Committee empowered to remove illegal structures, abandoned vehicles and blocked drainages has kick-started operations in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, promising to reach out to other local government areas in the State.
Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Frank Omare, said the committee was re-constituted to improve on what they have done before now and explained that the operation is massive and is going to continue until illegal structures and abandoned vehicles are cleared from the streets in Delta, adding that members of the former committee performed creditably well.
He added that Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan meant well for every Delta with the beautiful roads that he tarred in the State but they are all filled with refuse and illegal structures.
Mr. Omare advised Deltans not to be deceived and should not give money to anyone as bribe with the intention that the task force will not come to their area, because we will continue to work every day to ensure that the whole place is clean and will get to every area within Delta State.
Hon. Ben Igbakpa, Commissioner for Transport, in his remark said there will be no mercy when people behave abnormally and abuse good initiative of government and advised them to remove all illegal structures before the task force gets there, adding that it is total war on illegal structures and abandoned vehicles in the State.
