The World Trade Organization has commenced negotiations on fisheries subsidies. The negotiations on fisheries subsidies which was launched in 2001 at the Doha Ministerial Conference, with the major aim to clarify and improve” existing WTO disciplines on fisheries subsidies. The mandate was expanded in 2005 at the Ministerial Conference, held in Hong Kong during which the motion r prohibiting certain forms of fisheries subsidies that contribute to overcapacity. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has announced the approvement of the promotion of 99 Command Officers of the agency by the governing board. According to the NDLEA those promoted include Sunday Joseph Nbona, who was before now the Assistant Commander General of Narcotics but has now been appointed as the Deputy Commander General of Narcotics alongside other 60 Assistant Commanders of Narcotics. The kogi state chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association has pleaded with the Federal Ministry of Health to re-open the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja. The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, has mapped out a plan to enhance cassava farmers’ productivity in the Niger Delta.
