The First Bank of Nigeria released a disclaimer stating that the bank is not on the list of the receiving or paying banks on Azimo.com. Azimo.com which is an online financial platform used for the transfer of funds is owned by Azimo Limited which offers a global online money transfer service. The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman has yesterday defended the Nigerian Port Authority’ 2021 budget before the Senate Committee on Marine Transport during the Senate plenary held yesterday. The Managing Director stated that the NPA’ 2021 budget is high because the Nigerian Port Authority lost over #1 billion during the EndSARS protests in October. She said that the NPA properties were vandalised during the protest and the authority has spent about #807 million to rehabilitate the affected part of the authority’ building. The latest figures from the National Bureau of Statistics have revealed that non-performing loans in the Nigerian banking sector reduced by N42.4bn in three months. The figures released by NBS on latest Selected Banking Sector Data Report shows that the total amount of non-performing loans in Nigerian banks reduced from N1.21 trillion at the end of the second quarter of 2020 to N1.17 trillion as at the third quarter 2020. The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria has suspended it’s proposed three days warning strike. Following this development the Nigerian Port Authority, has thereby commended the union for suspending the warning strike which was supposed to commence yesterday.
